Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences

The mission of the department of pharmaceutical sciences is two-fold. The overall objective of the department is to provide an environment where students can acquire the knowledge and skills that are necessary for advanced study in the pharmaceutical sciences, which provides the foundation necessary for the provision of pharmaceutical care. The second component of the mission is to develop a vigorous and sustainable biomedical research program. In order to accomplish this mission, the department concentrates faculty and staff efforts on the following:

• Utilization of a variety of active learning strategies that are designed to foster critical thinking skills
• Establishment of cutting-edge biomedical research projects
• Securing adequate extramural support for teaching and research projects
• Development of an ongoing program of curriculum review
• Participation in specific continuing education and health awareness campaigns
