HUSSHP General Membership
Who are we?
The Hampton University Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (UH SSHP) is the student chapter of the American
Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and Virginia Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Our local chapter is nationally and officially recognized by ASHP due to the numerous community service activities and events and because of our extremely active membership. Our organization represents areas of pharmacy outside of the traditional, retail pharmacy environment. These areas include, but are not limited to: clinical pharmacy, inpatient & outpatient clinics, hospital pharmacy administration, home infusion, academia, managed care, long-term care facilities, health maintenance organizations, pharmacy information technology and the like.
As an active Hampton University School of Pharmacy (HUSOP) student organization, SSHP has much to offer. Our organizational activities include: monthly general body meetings, special sessions geared toward introducing students to a variety of non-retail carreer paths, a local clinical skills competition, networking events, mentorship opportunities, multiple residency informational sessions for those students geared at pursuing a residency, and much more. We are also involved in community service events, including those that are pharmacy-related. Service events include: American Heart Association Heart Walk, brown bag medication reviews, Pink-Ribbon Campaign, Blue-Ribbon Campaign medication safety & antibiotic awareness projects, among others.
Membership includes membership to:
1. American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) - National Chapter
